China Fashion Week - 4/1/2010

Wow, no one ever wore THIS when I lived in Beijing. Can you imagine? How could one hop on a bike in one of these? How would they weather the dust storms and snow flurries? How could I sit on a teensy stool and slurp my noodles in one of these getups?

But how much better would it have been if everyone had worn these!

Prada Spring 2010 Collection - 4/1/2010

Prada Spring 2010 Collection

Wednesday. 31 March. 2010. 10:30 am

A subdued palette to celebrate Spring 2010.

One can always count on Prada’s pieces to be functional and wearable – their Spring 2010 collection all of the above and more.  We can honestly say we’re quite in love with the fashion house’s latest offering for its simplicity and wearability; something that can not oft be said of modern fashions.

Prada started off with a subdued palate for Spring 2010 – whites, grays, navies and blacks. There was also a teensy bit of yellow thrown in but was so minimal as to give it a more graphic than bright feel. Many would expect these dark somber tones to produce a dark collection but Prada proves otherwise; their shades used for different graphic prints like flowers and geometrical shapes to give the clothes much definition and life.

As for the cut, this season Prada is “bringing sexy back” so to speak, with most pieces featuring extra detail at the back for a semi-flowing effect. Hemlines were asymmetrical in a calculated and precise manner for a wonderful marriage between structure and flow. As for the length, Prada kept it practical and wearable with pieces that weren’t too long nor short and something that we could seamlessly incorporate into any wardrobe. A+.

Upcoming Trends:

  • Subdued shades – whites, grays, navies and blacks
  • Graphic prints of florals and geometrical shades
  • Asymmetrical hemlines
  • Details on the back

Looks we love:
